HOW I CREATE VIDEOS
Having a solid process to guide you from pre-production to post-production is just as essential as the final deliverables.
✎ PRE-PRODUCTION ✎
After discussing the goal, target audience, and theme/aesthetic of the content, I'll produce a shoot brief, shot list (a sequential list of camera angles required to convey the narrative), and, if needed, a storyboard (2D images that offer more visual aid of the final deliverable). If Brand Guidelines have not been developed at this point, this is where we would establish them to reference moving forward.

▹ PRODUCTION ▹
After scheduling the shoot, we will film content based on the shot list and shoot brief, ensuring every necessary angle is captured with perfect lighting. Since everything is planned ahead of time, this usually provides more room to be creative on set and come up with extra ideas that may work better in the edit.

⏻ POST-PRODUCTION ⏻
With all of the content filmed, we move on to the edit, where our discussion of the content's aesthetic guides the entire process. Color grading, visual effects, music, sound effects, and even font must all align to reinforce the video's message.

RUN-AND-GUN PRODUCTION
Sometimes there isn't enough time or budget to go through the entire production process, but that's okay!

COVERAGE
Doing run-and-gun shoots calls for as much "coverage" as possible, usually meaning capturing multiple angles of the same subject/environment to be able to decide on ideas later in the edit phase.
FLEXIBILITY
Since the content captured is more open-ended than project-specific, this can allow for more creativity in the edit, tending to lean more on visual effects and typography.
GOAL SETTING
At a minimum, we need to set a goal for the content, whether that is getting sound bites from testimonials, cinematic b-roll for social media compilations, timelapses of production, etc.
